Saturday's 4-fold went 3 from 4: Southampton let us down, and 2 in 3 of our picks win
Saturday's 4-fold on 17th October 2026 went 3 from 4: Salford 2-1, Stockport 1-0 and Wrexham 4-1 won, Southampton drew 0-0 with Bolton. Four of six Saturday picks won, 2 in 3 of our picks win (67%), and Tuesday's free leg is Huddersfield.
Saturday's 4-fold didn't land. Salford, Stockport and Wrexham all won, and Southampton drew 0-0 at home to Bolton, so it finished 3 from 4. Six picks went out for Saturday and four of them won, and across every released pick 2 in 3 of our picks win (67%). The 4-fold, leg by leg
All four legs were on the board by Thursday 15th October, and all four kicked off at 3pm. The win chance is the goals model's number for the side we backed, the score is out of 10 and the price is the price at release.
| Fixture | Our call | Win chance | Score | Price | Result | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Salford City v Crawley Town | Salford | 61% | 7.9 | 1.42 | 2-1 | Won |
| Southampton v Bolton | Southampton | 74% | 7.4 | 1.52 | 0-0 | Lost |
| Stockport County v Bromley | Stockport | 69% | 7.4 | 1.26 | 1-0 | Won |
| Wrexham v Preston | Wrexham | 55% | 7.3 | 1.73 | 4-1 | Won |
Multiply the four win chances together and you get about 1 in 6 (17%). That's the number we gave on Thursday and again on Saturday morning, and it's the honest size of a 4-fold.
Salford City 2-1 Crawley Town. The free leg and the top of the 4-fold at 7.9. First against twenty-fourth in League Two, with Salford on WWWWD and four wins from five at home. It was closer than the table said, and it still went in.
Southampton 0-0 Bolton. This is the one that hurts. Southampton had the highest win chance of the four at 74%, five wins from five at home and WWLWW as recent form. The warning sign was in the shot data: 4.6 shots on target a game against Bolton's 5.4. A team that wins every home game without out-shooting people can have an afternoon where nothing goes in, and that's what happened. I'd back the same setup again.
Stockport County 1-0 Bromley. Third against twenty-first, with an xG of 1.98 to 0.82. The shortest price of the four at 1.26 and a tighter game than it should have been, but it counts the same in an acca.
Wrexham 4-1 Preston. The leg I was least sure of. Wrexham had won one of five at home and the goals model gave them 55%, the lowest of the four. The team strength rating still had them clear, and they scored four.
What it paid
£10 on the 4-fold at release prices would have returned £47.05. It went with Southampton.
£10 on each leg as a single returned £44.10 from £40: Salford paid £14.20, Stockport £12.60 and Wrexham £17.30.
The rest of Saturday
Two more picks went out for Saturday, outside the 4-fold, and one of them won.
| Fixture | Our call | Kick-off | Score | Price | Result | Outcome |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Middlesbrough v Cardiff | Middlesbrough | 12.30pm | 7.1 | 1.59 | 2-2 | Lost |
| Sheffield Wednesday v AFC Wimbledon | Sheffield Wednesday | 3pm | 7.0 | 1.68 | 5-0 | Won |
Middlesbrough is why the 4-fold leaves out early kick-offs. Had it been in, the acca would have been dead by half past two, before Salford, Stockport or Wrexham had kicked a ball. The early game is the leg that ruins your afternoon, and this week it would have.
Sheffield Wednesday scored 7.0 and finished fifth on the 3pm list, so it sat just outside the top four. It won 5-0, and that's the reason the Acca Builder exists for anyone who wants a fifth leg. Remember what a fifth leg does to your chance, though: each leg you add roughly halves it.
Two 4-folds, two near misses
We started logging the Best 4-fold on 10th October. 4-folds: 0 landed from 2, and both went 3 from 4. Leicester let us down last week and Southampton this week. In testing (2021 to 2026) the top four on a Saturday landed on about 1 Saturday in 5 (21 to 24%), so two misses in a row is ordinary. Most weeks a 4-fold loses. When it lands it pays for the weeks it doesn't, and you only know which week it is after full time.
Across every released pick, 2 in 3 of our picks win (67%). Every pick and every result is on /results, losers included. Tipsters bury the 0-0s, and we publish every one.
Tuesday night's 4-fold
The next 4-fold isn't Saturday. Four picks went out on Sunday for Tuesday 20th October, all four kick off at 7:45pm, and on our numbers the 4-fold lands about 1 in 7 (14%). Here's the free leg.
Huddersfield v Peterborough, Tuesday 7:45pm, League One. Back Huddersfield: 60% win chance, 7.5 out of 10, 1.56 at release. Third against nineteenth, and Huddersfield have won four of the last five meetings. They're unbeaten in four at home, two wins and two draws, and the draws are the risk.
The other three legs are for members. Saturday 24th October's board has started too, with two picks so far, and more legs will join it once Tuesday's numbers are final.
